About me

Hi, my name is Beatrice Roman, I was born in 1971 in Bârlad (Romania), but have been living in Venice since over 25 years.
I made my first works just for fun wanting to create something personal to decorate my house, something able to fully reflect the moods of the time when I was creating it, thinking that, in this way, I would have the opportunity to always relive and review the memories and feelings of that instant: joy, happiness, anger, sadness … just EMOTIONS!!!
All my works come from a great imagination and are able to express an exact moment and its energy.
My technique is made of pure inventiveness together with a mix of ” collection” and collage. I actually collect different items and recycled material: Venetian glass (coming from the island of Murano, a beautiful place where I lived for about 11 years), beads, coins, bottle caps, gloves, etc. etc.
Balance and harmony are the basis of all my works. Doesn’t fail the attention in the symmetry when placing all the different pieces before finally ending through a range of colours which blend to create that Magic needed to catch the audience’s eye.
Bio

I graduated from Electric High School in 1990, and I have hereafter chosen to work in a sector that would give me a chance to directly reach people and, more generally, the world.
In 1994 I left my country to move to Italy, motivated by a strong desire for change and following my adventurer instincts. I still live in Italy.
My extrovert nature and the need to treasure all those things kept in my heart, led me to create my works.
Within my works, you find all those memories and fantasies which are indelible in my life.

Biennale Milano – International Art Meeting
Five days entirely dedicated and focused on the art world and everything about it. The event is aimed to make the works of talented Italian and foreign contemporary artists visible to an international audience.
Prof. Sgarbi says: “Biennale Milano is an opportunity to see both new and well-known artists and the state of the art out of the Venetian splendour and with no discrimination”. For this reason a careful selection of artists from all over Italy and other countries is now taking place, and has already started during the vernissage of Pro Biennale, the last May.
From 15 to 28 June 2019 – Via Verdi 92, Mestre- Venezia
Personal exhibition of Beatrice Roman, at Galleria Ghetti
The work of Beatrice Roman has, for the watcher, an enigmatic content and a vitality and originality able to deeply capture his interest. Her three-dimensional paintings and collages are not figurative, but are instead extemporaneous compositions made of different material (shells, glass, semi-precious stones) which are placed on the canvas following the inspiration of that moment before being covered by the emotional value of the colour.
These works are able to draw inspiration not from the reality, but from an oneiric imagination instead, able to express the most secret feelings of the soul and the innermost thoughts. They actually reject the concept of classical painting, to devote themselves to the search for new modern and unconventional forms of expression.

Beatrice Roman – Tisu Art
…I hold the short of my name (Beatrice-Tisu) in my heart, and I actually chose it as my stage name. This nickname, Tisu (in Italian you would say TISSU) allows me to lightly, but concretely include, within my works, my bond with a very happy childhood and the clear memory from when my parents and family used to call me “Little Tisu”.
